Churchrow Tejas BBQ

Churchrow Tejas BBQ is a modern TexMex barbecue restaurant in Austin, TX, blending mesquite slow-smoked Texas BBQ with authentic Mexican-American flavors. Located at 1521 W Anderson Lane in the Crestview neighborhood, Churchrow honors the historic “Churchrow” nickname from the 1950s when Woodrow Avenue was home to a cluster of local churches.

About US

Miguel Vidal, Churchrow’s pitmaster, brings years of barbecue expertise to every tender cut of mesquite-smoked brisket, ribs, pork, chicken, and other smoked meats. Vidal’s unique approach combines the rich traditions of Texas barbecue with the bold, heritage-driven flavors of Mexican cuisine. Signature dishes include BBQ tacos like the Valentina, handcrafted tortillas, specialty plates like mollejas, and creative sides inspired by Tejano culinary traditions.

Churchrow was founded by restaurateur Simon Madera of Austin favorites La Holly and Taco Flats, with a goal to create a community-focused barbecue destination where neighbors, families, and visitors can gather for outstanding food, drinks, and hospitality.

Bar & Beverage Program

Complementing Churchrow’s smoked meats is Beverage Director Caleb Chial’s agave-forward cocktail program and thoughtfully curated drink selections. Caleb also serves as Beverage Director for La Holly and Taco Flats, where he’s known for crafting vibrant, tequila and mezcal-driven cocktails that balance bold flavor with approachability. At Churchrow, he brings that same expertise to a full bar featuring tequila and mezcal-centric cocktails, craft beer, and carefully selected beverages designed to pair perfectly with our smoky, Texas-style barbecue,  helping set Churchrow apart among Austin BBQ destinations.
